Have you ever had one of those days when from the moment you awaken everything began to go wrong?  Either the alarm clock didn't go off or you didn't here it and what followed was a domino effect.  As you walked out to get into your car you realized that you had planned to stop for gas on your way to work and now that too will put you further behind, hence causing you to be even later for work.   In moments like these what do  you do?  Throw your hands up in frustration or find a way to turn what appears to be a not so good day into a better one?

It's easy to allow these little distractions to effect you and cause you to believe the rest of the day will only take a downward spiral.  This couldn't be further from the truth, but in order to see an alternate ending to what appears to be a not so good day you'd have to view the scenario in another way, and this can only happen if you change your perception.  I've found that by changing your perception of the event it in turns changes how you react to it.

For instance in the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" James Stewart's character, George Bailey perceived that life for those around him would have been better had he never existed.  It wasn't until his guardian angel stepped in to show him that his life had value and how it  had touched those around him.  This helped to change George's perception of how he viewed the situation.  Although I'm no guardian angel I would like to help to change your perception so that any situation you face can be perceived with an alternate ending.

The formal definition of perception, as stated by the New World Encyclopedia, is the process of acquiring, interpreting, selecting and organizing sensory information.  Simply put, perception allows you to interpret what you see, feel, taste or touch into your own view of the experience

Equipped with this new information you can change your perception of the initial story.  Now, when you realize that the alarm didn't go off try not to get up in a panic, this will only cause you to rush around.  Sit calmly for a few minutes, notify your job that you'll be late and when you go out to the car and realize that you still need to stop for gas your environment will already have shifted to incorporate your new interpretation of the situation.

Life isn't  perfect and expecting it to be will only cause an unrealistic outcome for you.  Instead, look at the current situation and adjust your perception, which will cause a  change in your attitude, and the end result will start you on a path to creating a wonderful life.

  1. Another Wandaful post. I agree with your assessment. How you see it affects how you feel about it, how feel about it affects what you'll do about it...
