Beyond Your Reach

When you look beyond your reach, what do you see?  Think about a desired dream or goal you've always wanted to accomplish but haven't because secretly you've deemed that thing, regardless of how badly you want as something beyond anything you could imagine. Instead of thinking that it's unimaginable, imagine it, see it, bring it to the forefront of your mind. Allow it to become a part of your everyday thoughts and more than anything believe that you deserve it.   

Far too many times you may settle for what you don't want because you believe that thing you do want can't be reached.  Current circumstances may perpetuate this thought and dictate what you believe will be the outcome of your future.  Don't let this stifle you, change your thoughts and you'll change your circumstances.  It may sound cliché but it does work.  Allow this new transformation to take root and as time goes on you'll begin to realize that you're making steps toward achieving your dream. 

During a commencement speech at Iowa's Maharishi University of Management, comedian Jim Carey talked about his life and how early on in his childhood he learned a valuable lesson from his father who had worked for years as an accountant. Jim went on to say that his father chose that profession not because it was what he wanted to do but it was safe and he believed that it was all he could do. 

Witnessing the struggle his family faced after his father was laid off caused Jim Carey to take a chance on himself and pursue his dream of comedy.  His speech was quite profound as he challenged the new graduates to take a road that was less safe but could be more rewarding.  He said something that rang true, "you can fail at what you don't want so you may as well take a chance on what you love."  It was an affirmation that dreams, no matter how far out of reach they may seem are far more attainable than what you believe. 

Remember you are as limited as your thoughts.  Negativity begets negativity and the same rings true for positive thinking.  Therefore, inject positivity into your life and allow those thoughts to become your norm.  Confirm and reaffirm your goals, this will keep you on track and force you to stay focused.  A positive reaction is ignited when your goals are kept within your reach. 

Starting now, rewrite your story or create your own scenario and work hard to achieve those things that have value for you.  Learn to take a chance on yourself and just know, and believe that your goals are not beyond your reach.
